Midwood Maynia is Plaza Midwood’s official event to welcome warmer weather, the blossoms of spring and the beginning of the outdoor festival season with live music, food, beer from a local brewery, parade, great local merchants and fun activities for the kids. This event is free to all, so we welcome you to join friends, family, neighbors, artisans and many of our local businesses in beautiful Midwood Park for the annual Midwood Maynia festival, always held on the first full weekend in May.

EVENT AND MUSIC SCHEDULE
9:30 a.m. Workout in Midwood Park with Camp Gladiator
Get your day off to a healthy start with our outdoor workout session, hosted by our friends at Camp Gladiator. Due to scheduling conflicts with CMPD, we were unable to secure a 5K race route, so this is our way of ensuring you burn some calories before heading off for that first beer.
Camp Gladiator is an outdoor boot camp that provides a fun and motivating Community with results driven workouts. Our fitness boot camps are for ALL fitness levels, ALL ages and are programmed to be "go at your own pace." Class will be held on the baseball field before Midwood Maynia starts. No sign up necessary. Just show up and sign a waiver once you get there.
10 a.m. Pet Parade at The Vine
This year’s Maynia Pet Parade will be more of a Pet “Stroll Down the Sidewalk” to the park! Unfortunately we are unable to close the streets this year for an official parade. Have no fear though! We have a backup plan!
We'll begin gathering on the lawn in front of The Vine at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Four Dogs will be on hand to hand out goodies for our furry friends.
Pastor Susan Heafner-Heun will perform the pet blessing at 10 a.m., followed by a stroll down the sidewalk along Chambwood and make our way to Midwood Park to enjoy the (hopefully!) beautiful spring morning. We hope to see all of your smiling pets who would like to partake in this annual tradition.
11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Kidswood in Midwood Park
If you’re a kid or a kid at heart, head over to Midwood Park for Kidswood, a celebration with activities for our youngest residents. Our local organizations will present a variety of kid-oriented fun, from art to face painting, dancing and bubbles galore! In between art projects, the little ones can blow off some steam in the much-loved Bounce House or visit some creepy crawlers with Under the Canopy wildlife demonstrations.
11:30 a.m. Plant Swap
Come on out to the Midwood Park Community Garden for the eighth annual plant swap. The Plant Swap is located between the ball field and the Tippah Avenue walkway and everyone is welcome to join in the fun. Swap native plants and stories, meet your neighbors, and learn gardening tips. See more Plant Swap guidelines in this issue.
Noon to 7 p.m. Party in the Park
Join all the other Mayniacs in Midwood Park for food, cold beverages, and a variety of activities including great live local music, friends, family, and of course – sun, lots of sun! We'll have beers on draft courtesy of our friends at Legion Brewing. Food trucks will be on site, including The Dumpling Lady and Papi Queso, plus we'll have great BBQ for sale from the folks at Midwood Baptist Church. Rita's will have cool treats on hand, too.
11:30 a.m. Traditional Chinese Lion Dance
We'll kick off Midwood Maynia's music with a traditional lion dance, courtesy of Hun Gar Kung-Fu Academy.
