Annual Events

ADOPT A STREET

PMNA has adopted The Plaza, from Parkwood Avenue to Independence. The Plaza is one of the most traveled roadways in the neighborhood, as well as one of the most beautiful. To keep that balance, we meet quarterly to take a walk from one end to the other, cleaning up trash along the way. Adopt-a-Street meet-ups always include coffee and treats, and all materials needed for the cleanup are provided by PMNA and Keep Charlotte Beautiful. Keep an eye on our calendar page for upcoming clean-up events.

WINTER FLING

Each year, PMNA helps raise money for important neighborhood initiatives at our Winter Fling and Silent Auction. The theme changes annually, but there's always great music, great beer, great food and a host of fantastic items up for auction. All revenue from the silent auction goes directly to PMNA's general fund, which has helped sustain projects such as our community garden and dog-waste stations. Winter Fling is typically held in mid-February or early March.

HOME TOUR

Take a look inside some of the most beautifully renovated, historically charming and wonderfully unique homes in Plaza Midwood on our annual Home & Garden Tour. Each year, homeowners open their doors to the public to tour and explore. Our candlelight tour occurs the evening of the first Friday in May, with an all-day tour the first Saturday. Some homes are sponsored by a local business, with tastings, treats and great neighbors to meet. Biking, scooting, and walking between tour locations is encouraged!

MIDWOOD MAYNIA

Midwood Maynia is Plaza Midwood’s official event to welcome warmer weather, the blossoms of spring and the beginning of the outdoor festival season with live music, food, beer from a local brewery, parade, great local merchants and fun activities for the kids. Please join friends, family, neighbors, artisans and many of our local businesses in beautiful Midwood Park for the annual Midwood Maynia festival. This year Maynia will be held the THIRD weekend in May...May 20th.

MOVIES IN MIDWOOD PARK

Each year, PMNA selects classic movies to show on the big screen and under the stars in Midwood Park. Movies and popcorn are free for all neighbors. Follow us on Facebook or keep an eye on our calendar page for dates, times and movies.

MIDWOOD GIVES BACK

Each year, PMNA partners with our friends at Midwood Baptist Church for a neighborhood-wide charity drive. PMNA delivers empty bags to the front door of every home in the neighborhood, then a week later, we’ll be back to collect the bags filled with your donations. All food collections go to Second Harvest Food Bank. We also collect for various other groups, including the Humane Society of Charlotte and Shamrock Elementary School.

FALL CRAWL

The weather has cooled off, the kids are back in school, and Plaza Midwood has to squeeze one last party in before we go into winter hibernation. Fall Crawl is a great day of fun in Midwood Park, starting with a costume parade and our annual Trunk or Treat for kids (at The Vine Church, 2101 Belvedere) followed by a full day of beer, food trucks, live music, great local merchants and tons of activities for the kids in the park. We'll also be providing tree-banding materials to neighbors to keep the cankerworms away. Fall Crawl happens on the final Saturday of October each year.

CHARLOTTE MARATHON CHEER STATION

The Charlotte Marathon is one of the great events in the city, and each year the runners make their way down The Plaza and through our wonderful neighborhood. We're here to help! PMNA sponsors a marathon cheer station near The Plaza and Chestnut, with live music, great food and, of course, beer. Bring your signs and your enthusiasm to help cheer the runners on and ensure their mile through Plaza Midwood is the best part of race day.

CHRISTMAS BALL WORKSHOP & 5K

PMNA wants to ensure the entire neighborhood is sparkling with holiday cheer every December by setting up Santa’s workshop where neighbors can build their own lighted Christmas balls. We have materials and pre-made balls for purchase, but we also have trained experts on hand to help you craft your own. This event precedes our annual “Running of the Balls” 5K under the lights and through the neighborhood.

OTHER EVENTS

PMNA hosts tons of other great events on a rotating basis, from our Inside|Out Art bike ride to our Barktoberfest party. These events can change each year, and we're always open to new ideas. Keep an eye on our calendar page and social media outlets for more info.
