Home of Lance Breeden and Megan Orrell * Sponsored by Banister Homes
Lance and Megan lived on Kensington Drive before building their new home; they needed something bigger than they had, but wanted to stay in Plaza Midwood; they ended up moving ten houses down the street.
Their home was constructed in 2014 with a nod to the Craftsman tradition prevalent in the neighborhood. While they wanted their home to fit into its surroundings, they were also looking for a bit more modern aesthetic; their architect helped them realize that desire. Features they love include the large open living and dining area, perfect for entertaining friends and neighbors along with the 15-foot sliding door that recedes into a pocket and opens completely to the screened porch; they find they are out there much of the time. Lance is especially fond of the whole house audio connected to his record player. Also note the oversized woodburning fireplace and the heated floors and steam shower in the master bedroom.
Megan is responsible for the modern, bohemian interior design, along with Beth Keim of Lucy & Company (also on the tour). Furniture comes from Slate Interiors, Craigslist, and some custom-ordered by Beth. The couple is pleased that their home looks put together and chic and at the same time is livable and comfortable.
