December 12, 2009 Fifth Annual Thunder Road Marathon
The Thunder Road marathon course runs right through our neighborhood!! This is an excellent way to promote your Plaza Midwood business and, support the Plaza Midwood community. Get out and cheer for the runners on race day. PM is near the end of the course, so they could us our help to keep them moving towards the finish.

Charlotte's Thunder Road Marathon unites the excitement of road racing, music, family-friendly entertainment and the Charlotte region's rich heritage of stock car racing.
From the time the green flag drops on race day until the checkered flag falls on the final finisher, you will experience the race of a lifetime while enjoying the sounds of music along one of the Southeast's most scenic marathon courses. With over 6000 runners expected to attend this year
The Thunder Road Marathon also features an Amica Insurance Half Marathon and Presbyterian Hospital Jingle Jog 5K.
“Seasoned runners know when a race reaches the 5-year mark it has come of age! The Thunder Road event is growing like kudzu and has become a popular end-of-season, high energy event for runners of all capabilities. The Amica Insurance Half Marathon has grown 160% year over year, while the full marathon has grown by 80%. This year they expect 6,000 participants in the half marathon and 2,000 in the full. This will create a terrific energy level, but is not overwhelmingly large and crowded. It’s the perfect size for support, camaraderie and racing” -coolrunning.com

-Have a costume party
