This is the statement from the Eastway Captain about the incident on Brook and Fort.
I had not sent a message earlier to try to keep down fear and to protect the investigation and privacy of the juvenile victim. We were in contact with our officers through the whole process and made sure no one in our neighborhood was in danger.

I'm the Captain of the Eastway Division and I would like to dispel the rumor about the "brutal attack in Plaza Midwood". No, this is not true. A young girl was late getting home from school and initially told her day care provider that she was abducted but later admitted that she was not telling the truth. She got off the bus at a friends house and wasn't suppose to. The story was fabricated and she knew that she was in trouble. I can assure you that if something like this happens in your neighborhood, Sgt. Sloop would make sure that the information is disseminate throughout the neighborhood association.
