May 2017 Yard of the Month – 1805 Tippah Ave
May 1 @ 8:00 am - May 31 @ 11:30 pm
New homeowners Daron & Cassandra Gaon said they are incredibly touched to have been awarded Yard of the Month for this lovely Springtime month of May. The young couple are novice gardeners, but have found themselves lost in this new passion, and a relaxing way to while away their weekend days together.
Abandoned for nearly two years, the house and yard at 1805 Tippah were in sorry shape before being rescued by Daron and Cass. A dear friend, Joey Pellegrin of Ambiance Garden Design, helped the couple with creative design, layout and site-specific pops of color. Daron designed each of the floral beds, as well as linear keystones to demarcate pathways to the front entrance.
Once a dusty, muddy dirt pit, the front lawn is now lush with verdant rye grass for the spring, with an undergrowth of tall, dark fescue. The front yard is dappled with color and blazing floral variety. A staggered pattern of dusty miller petunias, impatients, and black and blue salvias pepper the front sight lines, with Asiatic and Oriental lilies backed by ferns and Florida sunshine annis. A baby Orangeola Japanese Maple is the crowning focal point of the North side, which the couple looks forward to watching grow as they grow old together in their fairy-tale lil’ Tippah cottage.
